Established in 1948, Leonard and Williams is a Chartered Quantity Surveying and Construction Cost Management consultancy with over 65 years of construction experience in Ireland and the practice continues to serve a wide range of public and private sector clients throughout the country. With extensive experience in all industry sectors, particularly conservation, health and education related new build and major refurbishment projects, it also has successfully completed many projects in the commercial and residential sectors. Our focus is dedicated to ensuring the client value for money in providing a building suitable for it’s intended use, on time and within budget. This is achieved by careful monitoring and analysis of the evolution of every phase of a development, from the initial assessment of the client’s brief to the negotiation of the final account at the completion of the construction phase.

Our approach takes full advantage of the latest information technology, which affords us the ability to offer a full and flexible portfolio of services to meet the individual and changing needs of each of our clients. We never forget that it is the personal involvement in each commission which guarantees the quality of service expected from Leonard & Williams. Each commission is managed personally by one of the directors of Leonard & Williams, who remains in direct contact with both the client and design team throughout the life of the project. The proof that this policy works is evidenced by the high level of additional commissions we receive from existing clients. This policy of close personal director involvement in all projects ensures close attention is paid to the quality and standard of work produced by the company in accordance with ISO 9001:2008.


Our Team

Anthony Leonard – Director

Anthony has over 40 years experience at senior management level of which over 25 years were as Managing Director. Acting as partner responsible for the overall management of the Quantity Surveying input into the project and the principle point of contact for the Client, Anthony has been responsible for projects covering healthcare, education, residential, commercial and industrial sectors ranging from small to those exceeding €100m in current value terms. Anthony is a member of the SCSI Panel of Mediators & Conciliators and a SCSI accredited Conservation Surveyor.

Anthony has also actively participated in professional and industry forums including:

  • Chairman of the Quantity Surveying Division SCSI
  • Member – Forum for the Construction Industry
  • Member – Construction Industry Council

Gordon Place

Associate Director

Gordon has been a key member of the Leonard & Williams team since joining in 2005, with over 15 years experience in all sectors including urban landscaping and sports and leisure, managing projects up to €28m in value. Associate Director responsible for the day-to-day management and administration on a number of projects from inception to completion, more recently Gordon has been heavily involved with restoration projects including those in Kilmainham Gaol & Courthouse and elsewhere completed in advance of the centenary celebrations of Easter 1916.

Alan Duffy

Associate Director

Associate Director with specialist involvement in cost planning, measurement and cost control on Mechanical and Electrical Services on all types of projects. Alan also joined Leonard & Williams in 2005 and has since been engaged in all quantity surveying functions on a variety of project types; including cost estimating, cost planning, tender documentation, procurement and reporting, interim valuations, interim cost control and reporting, preparation and agreement of final accounts etc.
